Monday Morning News Update and Photo Roundup

Good morning and Happy New Year's Eve Eve to you. Here's a little news update and photo roundup.

First, the list of New Year's Eve Events has been updated yet again and is getting pretty massive. If you haven't figured out what you're doing yet, there are plenty of options.

Where do good ducks now go when their hardworking days of marching around the Peabody are over? To a picturesque pond on the grounds of the Jack Daniels Distillery, of course.

Save the Date: Cochon Heritage BBQ is coming to Memphis on August 24. The venue is TBD.

Memphis hard rock band Prosevere's EP "The Damn Disaster" is out now and available for free on their website until February 1.  Check it out.

If you haven't heard by now, Batch Memphis is here. It will be a monthly subscription service (like Birchbox) that delivers Memphis-made products to your house. Each batch is themed, and January's will be "Good Morning, Memphis" - things you might enjoy in the morning. Coffee, maybe? Granola? Not sure - it's a surprise.

I may or may not have teared up a little yesterday when I saw that the Grizzlies had drafted Charvis Brewer, an 8-year-old basketball fan with cerebral palsy. Through the Mid-South Make A Wish Foundation, Charvis got to sit in on a practice, talk with players, and he and his family will be at FedExForum tonight to cheer on the Grizz as they play the Chicago Bulls.
