It's Friday! Here are five events you won't want to miss in Memphis this weekend.

1. Broad Avenue Fall Art Walk, Broad Avenue Arts District, Friday, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., free, all ages

There will be over 70 artists, music and dance performances, galleries, and plenty of food and drink on Broad Avenue tonight. You can read the full post here.

2. Curtain Up Carnival Noir Party, Playhouse on the Square, Friday, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., $75, 21 +

The kooky side of carnival is coming out tonight at Playhouse's annual fundraiser party, which is really more like five parties under one roof. Included in the lineup: four live bands, including Alexis Grace, henna tattos, tarot cards, poker, a maze, and plenty of food and adult beverages. Here's a preview video.

3. West Side Story musical, The Orpheum Theatre, Friday through Sunday, $20-$90, 13+
This Broadway favorite is a 1950s version of Romeo and Juliet set in New York City, complete with all the singing and dancing that has made it a classic after fifty years. Friday's show begins at 8 p.m., Saturday's shows are at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday's shows are at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

4. Polar Bear Birthday Bash, Memphis Zoo Northwest Passage, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., included in price of admission ($10-$15), all ages
Help the Zoo celebrate bears Payton and Hailey's birthdays. Kids can watch the bears get a birthday treat, chat with the bear Keepers, and hang out with Paley the Northwest Passage Polar Bear Mascot.

5. 27th Annual Outdoors Inc Cyclocross Championship, Mississippi Green Belt Park on Mud Island, Sunday, races at 9 a.m, 10 a.m., and 11 a.m., free to watch, all ages

This Sunday is the longest running cyclocross bicycle race in the U.S., hosted by Memphis' own Outdoors Inc. The race is fun to watch – so grab a scarf and hat and head down to the river to watch these athletes race around an exciting short course filled with obstacles.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
