Sneak Peek: The Newly Redesigned Madison Hotel Rooftop

Posted by Holly Whitfield | April 18th 2013 1222 21

When the Madison Hotel’s rooftop officially reopens next week, you’ll be able to get cocktails, coffee, food and a sweeping view of the Mississippi River. And, if you couldn’t see the bridge and the Pyramid, you might swear that you were somewhere other than Memphis.

The Madison’s redesign has turned the hotel’s rooftop from a small, plain, if kind of romantic, deck into a swank outdoor lounge that looks like belongs in Atlanta or Vegas or Dallas or somewhere like that.

There are long, white and pink upholstered couches, bar tables, a tall community table right in front of a 72″ TV and a giant fire pit. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, they’ll have a DJ spinning atmospheric lounge music, and the bar and its small kitchen will be open from 4 p.m. until at least 1 a.m.

Since the Madison is two blocks from the Mississippi, it’s got an unobstructed view of the river.

Bonus: if you turn around and face south east, you’ve also got a clear view of the post-game fireworks at AutoZone Park.

The Madison Rooftop offically opens next Friday night. You don’t have to be a hotel guest to check it out – just walk in, walk to the elevators, press the P button and you’re on your way.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

This is a very nice location.  What a great view.  You are right, the view does look like a Atlanta view or a Dallas view.

    Those chairs look good.

  4. Grant Parish says:

When you have a view like that, why do you need a 72" tv up there?
