Wednesday News Update: All The Dunks that Could Have Been Edition

Happy first day of spring, y'all.

Today in Memphis, we've got info on tomorrow's game (plus academic proud things), Crosstown renderings, a clothing drive, bicycle sharing, and a dunk that could have been.

But first, check out this sweet shot of the High Point Grocery (on High Point Terrace) is courtesy of Instagrammer @Kenny_Mane.

- First, a scheduling note: the Tigers play St. Mary's in the NCAA tournament tomorrow at 1:45 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS and WREC AM 600. In other Tiger Basketball news, if the tournament was based on academic performance, the Tigers would make the Final Four.

- In a bit of sad news, Julie, the Memphis Zoo's hippo passed away this week. If you'd like, you can bring cards and flowers to the Zoo on Saturday and a portion of the day's admission will benefit the Zoo's new hippo habitat.

- The actual point of this story is that the Crosstown redevelopment project is seeking partial public funding. The real point is that there are artist renderings of what the building / neighborhood will look like once the project is completed.

- The Big East (or whatever it is we're calling it now) has finalized a deal with ESPN that's very good news for Tiger fans, especially those living outside of Memphis. The deal states that 90 percent of football games and 63 percent of basketball games will be broadcast nationally.

- Want to start a food truck? Yolo's Taylor Berger has a ton of advice for you.

- In my years of photographing the sad single shoes that turn up on Memphis streets, I've never quite seen anything like this. It's lost sole Yeti.

- Bring your gently used clothing to K'PreSha on South Main tonight: the shop is hosting a clothing drive / party to benefit the patients of the MED's HIV/AIDS clinic from 8 p.m. - 10 p.m.

- Just think of what could have been: D.J. Stephens wanted to leap over a car at Memphis Madness, but Pastner wouldn't let him.

- Good job, U of M: a new initiative is bringing bicycle sharing to campus.

Links to Commercial Apple won't work any more - everything's behing a pay walk.  Paper sucks hot air these days.  Scripts has drained every bit of blood from it.  Maybe after we get Crosstown rebuilt, we can get a decent newspaper in this town again.
