Today, listen to the new Justin Timberlake record, congratulate Joe Jackson, try to figure out the CA's new paywall system and congratulate Hog & Hominy on another big nomination. Also, Victory Bicycle Studio provides your feel-good moment of the morning.

All of that and more is in today's Memphis news update:

Instagrammer @patrickjwoods snapped this shot of Memphis band <mancontrol> and their neon hula hooper at SXSW this week. I'd love to see your pics of Memphis bands at SXSW this week (or whatever else you'd like to show me). Tag them #ilovememphis, and I'll publish them here.

– While you read this, stream Justin Timberlake's new record for free on iTunes before it's released next week. Also, check out his Memphis basketball shout out on SNL last weekend (that's a Tigers tee and a Grizzlies hat at the same time).

– Let's just go ahead and give all of the awards to Hog & Hominy. The restuarant's latest honor is a nomination for Food and Wine's People's Best New Chef award.

– Congrats, Joe Jackson, on making the All-Conference USA first team.

– Yesterday, the CA announced that they're switching to a new paid subscriber model, then backtracked due to technical issues. Right now, access to their online content is still free, but no word on how long that will last.

– If you can find a more generically Midtown missed connection than this one, I'll buy you a PBR.

– Awww, we're charming! According to Travel + Leisure, Memphians have the 6th most charming accents in the U.S.

– This is why I love Memphis – we help each other out. Yesterday, Victory Bicycle shop fixed up a donated bike and gave it to the Cove's kitchen guy, who walks to work every day.

– The free tasting is over, but you can find maple bacon-flavored liqueur at Buster's.

– Lastly, here's a photo of legendary photographer William Eggleston playing the piano at the Powerhouse gallery.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
