5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 3/8 – 3/10
Happy Friday! Here are five things you won't want to miss in Memphis this weekend:
The first annual Memphis Punk Rock fest features 20 punk bands from Memphis and beyond for two days of very loud fun. For discounted admission, bring a can or two of food for the Memphis Food Bank. In addition to punk rock, the fest will have a photo booth, art and photo shoots with Kriss Kross Photography.
2. Mix Master Mike, Minglewood Hall, Friday, 9 p.m., $22
Legendary DJ Mix Master Mike is playing the big room at Minglewood Hall tonight. He's best known for his work with the Beastie Boys, and his scratching skills are some of the best in the industry. The show is 18 and up, and doors open at 8 p.m. with the opening at starting at 9 p.m.
Tomorrow's is shaping up to be the perfect day for the Daffodil Dash: sunny and a predicted high of 69 glorious degrees. The Daffodil Dash is a 5K race through the Memphis Botanic Gardens, and the fun run is a 1 mile run for runners of all ages. Stick around for free food and live music at the post-race party.
4. University of Memphis vs. UAB, FedExForum, Saturday, 11 a.m., various prices
Alas, friends, the Tigers' regular season is coming to an end on Saturday morning at FedExForum. It's also Senior Day, which means that we'll be saying goodbye to Ferrakohn Hall, Stan Simpson and D.J. Stephens. If you can't make it to the Forum, the game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and on WREC AM 600.
If the U of M / UAB game isn't enough rivalry for you, head to Memphis Roller Derby's home game on Saturday night. The Memphis Hustlin' Rollers (the MRD All-star team) are playing Gold Coast, who are so close to MHR in the rankings that they may as well be twins. The all-star game will be followed by a mashup game featuring skaters from all of MRD's home teams and some skaters from out of town. As always, there's going to be plenty of food (fried chicken!), beer, and an awesome halftime step show.
If none of these events sound like the sort of thing you're into, check the ILM calendar for tons more. As always, no matter what you do, I hope you have a great time. Come back and tell me about it on Monday, ok?

Hi. I love your website. But, it there anything you could post for teens to do? Too old for kiddy stuff, to young for adult stuff.
