PSA: It’s Blood Orange Season

Attention, everyone: blood orange season is upon us, and it's not going to last long.

From the outside, they look like normal oranges (sometimes with a reddish tint). Inside, though, blood oranges are bright red slices of sweet happiness. They're one of my favorite fruits, and sadly, the window of time when they're available in Memphis is very small.

Blood oranges, Memphis, Tenn.

So far, I've spotted blood oranges at Whole Foods on Poplar for $2.99 /lb. Have you seen them anywhere else?

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

I don't live in Memphis, I am from Chicago. I have found Blood Oranges in 2 different local grocery stores as well as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. I've gotten lucky :)
