5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 12/28 – 12/30

Happy Friday! Here are five things to do on the last weekend of 2012:

1. Trolley Tour, South Main Arts District, Friday, 6 p.m., free

It's the last Friday of the month, so tonight, head to the South Main Arts District (South Main St. between G.E. Patterson and Beale) for a night of gallery hopping, dining and late-night shopping. The street's art galleries, shops and restaurants stay open late, and some of them have free wine and snacks.

2. New Year's at Noon, Children's Museum of Memphis, Saturday, 10 a.m., $5 members / $15 non-members

For those hard partiers that aren't allowed to stay up until midnight (aka, children), CMOM is hosting their annual New Year's at Noon party on Saturday, December 29th. Mother Goose and her friends will be on hand to ring in the new year with a parade through the museum, a goodie toss and a 12 p.m. balloon drop.

3. Grizzlies vs. Nuggets, FedExForum, Saturday, 7 p.m., various prices

If you can't make it to see the Grizzlies play the Nuggets live at the Forum on Saturday night, I'm pretty sure most of the bars and restaurants downtown will have the game on. If you can make it, though, the first 5,000 fans get a free Grizz Girls poster in addition to some pretty great basketball.

4.  Trippy Fest 2K12 starring Juicy J, Minglewood Hall, Saturday, 8 p.m.,  $32

Newly inducted Memphis Music Hall of Fame member and Three 6 Mafia member Juicy J is back from Wiz Khalifa's tour and ready to play a not-quite-New-Year's-Eve show at Minglewood Hall. The show is all-ages, and there are VIP suites available.

5. Liberty Bowl Parade, Beale St., Sunday, 3 p.m., free

Before the Liberty Bowl on Monday, there's the Liberty Bowl Parade on Beale St. The parade, which is free, features high school and college marching bands, team mascots from Tulsa and Iowa State, floats and more. The parade is family friendly.

If none of these events decorate your tree, there are plenty more on the blog's calendar. Have a great weekend and a fantastic holiday. I'll see you back here Dec. 31.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

Dearest I luv Memphis,  I realize it is short notice, but mighten you take some time and list the top 5 places to snag a drink and food on New Years Day?  I'm curious about what options are available, and I'm simply too lazy to look it up myself.
Much thanks in advance for your help in this endeavour:)
    You rock.
