How to Improve Central Barbecue’s Nachos
As long as I've ordered the barbecue nachos at Central Barbecue, I've loved them. But once reader Thomas W. pointed out a simple modification, my love for the already delicious dish grew larger than the red plastic basket it's served in.
I thought there was only one, menu-dictated way to order barbecue nachos: on tortilla chips. While tortilla chips are a perfectly fine base for a mess of pulled pork, cheese and sauce, they're not the best way. The best way is to order your nachos on Central's house-made potato chips.
It doesn't cost anything extra and it makes all of the difference. Look, I'm not here to tell you what to do, but if you only care about your chips as an efficent pork and cheese delivery system, stick with the tortilla. If you're the kind of person who wants something more, something spicier and crunchier that will add an extra layer of flavor, uprgrade to the housemade chips.
I know what kind of person I am. I'm the kind that's never ordering the nachos with tortilla chips ever again.
You can find the nachos at any of Central Barbecue's locations, but why not try the new, huge one downtown:
