365 Things to Do in Memphis #275: India Fest
Updated October 2017
On November 4, head to the Agricenter for a day-long annual celebration of Memphis’ Indian community and the diversity and culture of India. Assignment #275 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to check out India Fest.
There’s so much going on at India Fest that it could easily be a weekend-long festival. There’s a bazaar where you can shop for traditional Indian clothing, jewelry, and goods from more than 50 vendors. There’s Bollywood dancing, henna painting, music, cultural info, and more.
There’s also food. Tons and tons of food.
A whole room in the Agricenter is turned into a giant Indian food court with cooking teams selling all kinds of things: curry, naan, desserts, sandwiches. Many of the offerings are vegetarian and vegan friendly and the majority of them are inexpensive (individual items have been mostly priced between $1 and $6).
India Fest is on Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Agricenter from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $1 for kids ages 5 to 12, and free for kids 4 and under.
