- A huge high five, hug and thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural 901 Day celebration from Jen and I. Next year’s going to be even better.
- A big glass of craft bourbon and two smoked oysters at Cochon Heritage Barbecue.
- This is your gratuitous cute weekend puppy picture. Meet Batman the Boston terrier.
- On Sunday night, Ron Easley (brother of Doug) put on what had to be one of the strangest Memphis performances in a while at the Lamplighter Lounge. The concert included crooning, storytelling, yodeling and a bizarre found video segment about incorporating pinto beans into your baking.
- Mini-cubans, meat hush puppies, potato salad and some kind of pork juice shot with a meat garnish at Cochon Heritage Barbecue.
- A pigs and carrots tattoo on one of the farmer-chefs at Cochon Heritage Barbecue.
- Mid-south based Newman Farms had one of the most impressive showings at the Cochon Heritage Barbecue competition. In most cases, I had no idea what I was eating, but it was amazing (especially that slaw under that corndog looking thing).
- Atlanta artist Michi Meko was hanging out outside of the Cochon Heritage Barbecue competition, making this pig.
- A girl gets ready to skate during Skatelife Memphis’ free 901 Day skateboarding lessons at Tobey Park.
- It was a little too wet to raise a barn on 901 Day, so instead, the Roots Memphis crew started building raised planters on their lot on Brooks Road. You know, when they weren’t pausing to look tough.
