Happy Third Birthday, I Love Memphis.
Happy Third Birthday, I Love Memphis.
Happy third birthday, I Love Memphis. You're now old enough to drink (in dog years).
In August, 2009, I made a thing.
When I started, I didn't know what that thing was going to be, only that it was going to be called I Love Memphis and exist on the internet. I thought maybe 10 people would read it, and two of them would be my parents.
Three years later, I Love Memphis has become way more than just my job. It's a blog, it's a 24-hour civic advice hotline, it's my love letter to this amazing place and all of the people in it. And none of it would be possible without you.
Thank you to everyone who reads what I write. Thank you to everyone who has ever sent me a tip, an idea, an offer for a guest post or a suggestion. Thank you to everyone who has corrected me (seriously - this is a one-lady operation, and sometimes, I need it). Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to talk to me, say hello, or email me. Thank you to everyone who has said yes when I've emailed you with some strange request at some weird hour. You guys are the best, and I'm crazy humbled by how many of you there are and how much you're willing to share with me.
Specifically, I'd like to thank my bosses, Regena and Bob, for only saying no when they absolutely have to. Also, big hugs to John J. for helping me eat most of the meals (and for the unending moral support), to the Women of Mass Destruction for being so awesome and patient, and to my mom for everything (and the Tiger basketball tickets).
Who wants cake?
I'm serious. Let's go get cake or beers or something to celebrate.
