Assignment #233 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to poke around the St. Blues Guitar showroom for a new made-in-Memphis rock'n'roll machine.

St. Blues Guitars, Memphis, Tenn.

St. Blues started making guitars in 1984. Their first guitar was called the Bluesmaster, a pretty, curvy electric that’s been played by Bono, Eric Clapton, Albert King, and a slew of other big deal guitarists. After a 17 year-long hiatus, St. Blues Guitar Workshop returned to Memphis. Every guitar from St. Blues is finished and set up in their showroom / workspace on Marshall in Midtown.

The main workshop is closed to the public, but if you visit their showroom, you can watch the techs putting the finishing touches on guitars at the Whammy Bar.
