This sounds a like hyperbolic braggery, but Memphis is home to one of the best drum shops in the world. Assignment #202 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to go to Memphis Drum Shop and bang a gong (get it on).

Memphis Drum Shop, Memphis, Tenn.

Open in Memphis since 1987, the Memphis Drum Shop is considered one of the best drum shops in the world. Legendary drummers of all kinds have given performances and workshops in the upstairs performance area and the drum shop has the largest display of Zildjian and Paiste cymbals in the world. In addition to the showroom, the drum shop also manages a large ecommerce business, repair shop, and archive of drum catalogs (from 1900 to the present).

Plus, they have an entire room devoted to cymbals.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
