365 Things to Do in Memphis #196: Blues on the Bluff
Bring your lawn chairs, but leave your pets at home – Assignment #196 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to check out the 24th annual Blues on the Bluff concert:
For the past 24 years, WEVL has hosted a giant blues party at the Metal Museum. It's a very good time – the bands are always incredible, the atmosphere is something like a backyard party and the views of the sunset are unparalelled.
This year, Elmo and the Shades, Jimbo Mathus and the Tri-State Coalition, and Lightnin' Malcom and Marquel Kimbrough are headlining the show. There's also a silent auction, food from Central Barbecue (so bring some cash) and plenty of space to set up a lawn chair or blanket. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the gates, and proceeds benefit volunteer radio in Memphis.
