I'm not usually an advocate of tagging (spray painting your name on things), but when the Memphis Knit Mafia does it, it's way more granny than gangster.

Assignment #195 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to find one of the Memphis Knit Mafia's signature marks.

The tags, which are hand-knitted pieces of fabric have sprung up all over the city. The one above was found at Peabody Elementary School in Cooper-Young. I've also spotted them on the Greenline, at Cafe Eclectic and Republic Coffee.
