365 Things to Do in Memphis #182: Ride the Monorail
There are three ways to get to Mud Island River Park, and one of them is way more exciting than the others. Assignment #182 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to ride the monorail.
Riding the monorail was one of the very first things I did for I Love Memphis, and it kind of stressed me out (I'm a transportation control freak with a semi-major fear of heights).
But don't let my hang ups stop you – the monorail is a completely safe, unique way to get from downtown to the park. The trip is only a third of a mile long, but the big windows on the cars offer sweeping panoramas of the Mississippi River.
Tickets for the Monorail are $4, but you can walk across the pedestrian bridge or drive to Mud Island via the Auction Street bridge for free.
