365 Things to Do in Memphis #172: Reenact the Cover of “Got To Get Back!”

The cover of the Bo-Keys "Got to Get Back!" is one of the coolest record covers to come out of Memphis recently. Assignment #172 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to take your own cover photo in the same spot.

In order to properly reenact the cover, go to the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. Park behind the building, then walk out the way you came in, to the building's east side. You'll see this mural:

I love those gradient arrows.

Here's the cover of the Bo-Keys record, for reference:

Arrange yourselves appropriately, then send the guy with the camera across the side street to get the best shot. After you take the picture, go check out the Stax Museum – they've got tons of Memphis soul music artifacts, a Soul Train dance floor and Isaac Haye's car.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
