365 Things to Do in Memphis #171: See the Lansky Guitar Collection
Elvis fans know Lansky Brothers as the shop that sold Elvis his distinct clothes, but there's more to the 66 year-old shop than flashy man clothes. Assignment #171 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to check out Lansky's signed guitar collection.
The walls of the Lansky Bros. store inside the Peabody Hotel are lined with 65 guitars that have been signed by musicians that have played in Memphis. They've got guitars signed by local legends like Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins B.B. King. They've also got ones signed by Kiss, Bon Jovi, Britney Spears and (my favorite), Meat Loaf.
Fun fact: according to Vh1's "Pop Up Video" (AKA the greatest show of all time), the name of Meat Loaf's credit card is Meat Loaf.
If you can't make it to the shop, you can check out the collection online. Here's a cool moving panoramic view of the whole store. And if you're planning on doing a little stalking while you're there, here's a list of celebrites that have been spotted in the shop.
