365 Things to Do in Memphis #162: Check Your Missed Connections

I suppose you could check the Craigslist missed connections board in any city, but you're in Memphis. And don't you want to know if you might be some stranger's soul mate?

Assignment #162 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to see if you've missed out on an opportunity for love.

I'm a wee bit obsessed with the Missed Connections section. I check it every day, gobbling up every interesting, funny and vague story of unrequited love from around the city.

Some of the posts are hilarious little love poems to strangers (my favorite ever was written to a woman leaving a Circle K with one pack of cigarettes and two packs of bacon). Some are kind of wistful and sad (i.e. – "You said hi to me. I think you thought I was someone else. It happens all the time.") Many of them are maddeningly vague, naming only the place where the two people may or may not have connected, but failing to mention any details with which one could identify herself.

A warning, though – since Craigslist is free and open to everyone, many of the posts are very much NSFW. Read at your own risk (and never at your office).
