The Cordova Farmers Market Brings International Delights to the 'Burbs
The people that brough us the Winchester Farmers Market have opened a second, bigger palace of international delights in Cordova.
Behold the Cordova Farmers Market.
The store just opened, so the shelves aren't quite fully stocked yet.
The produce section takes up about a third of the store and has both standard and exotic produce. It's all crazy inexpensive, and most of it looked super fresh.
I was excited to see that they carry containers of dried fruit, nuts and candy that are priced by weight (and much less expensive than you'd find at Whole Foods or Kroger). I picked up some candied ginger and some wasabi peas (about $3 each).
The stock is predominantly Asian and Mexican, but there's a decent selection of Middle Eastern food and tons of fresh Halal meats. They've also got a small selection of European food - think frozen Swedish meatballs, wursts, chocolate and something called Zwan that comes in a 10 inch tall metal tube and bills itself as "chicken luncheon loaf".
The market also has an impressive variety of hot sauce and ramen noodles and tons of international frozen food and treats. They also cary a ton of that great uniter of nationalities, the frozen pizza.
There was a counter selling hot Italian food, but it looked like the owners are intending to turn part of the store into a cafe with tables and hot and prepared foods. Basically, the Cordova Farmer's Market is only going to get better.
