I have no idea who assembled the huge sculptural…thing next to a train trestle on Lamar Ave., but it's so impressive that seeing it is #111 on the list of 365 Things to Do in Memphis.

The work actually has (what I think is) a title – it's the "Shrine to the Gods of Keepin' 'Em on the Rail". New items are continually added to the sprawling project which includes airborne rocking horses, a large collection of hubcaps, license plates, baby dolls and a sign that says "Safety First". You can see it from the street, but to get the best view, you'll want to climb up the embankment.

Or you could watch this video homage to the shrine, appropriately set to Bowie's "Space Oddity":

If you want to see it, head west on Lamar. It’ll be on the right, just past Willett.
