365 Things to Do in Memphis #107: Go On Location
Admittedly, it can be a little hard to see foreign, independent and arthouse films in Memphis. Unless, of course, it's the week of the On Location International Film and Music Festival. Complete Assignment #107 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis by checking out any of the movies showing during the festival.
The annual festiva – which, despite being 13 years-old is still something of a local secret- brings four days of independent films from around the world to Memphis.
This year, almost 60 feature films, documentaries, shorts, music videos, animated shorts and student films will be shown over four days at three different theatres – Studio on the Square, Paradiso and the Ridgeway Four. The festival also includes live music at Wet Willie's on Beale St.
If there's a film you're curious about, don't put it off. Given the independent nature of On Location's selections, it's not likely that many of them will ever play in Memphis again.
Check out the full festival schedule, then pick up tickets to the whole festival or individual screenings through Malco's website.
