365 Things to Do in Memphis #76: See a Show at Theatre Memphis

It's not quite Broadway, but this local theater offers some of Memphis' best community shows. Assignment #76 in the 365 Things to Do in Memphis is to take in a show at Theatre Memphis.

Founded in 1920, Theatre Memphis is one of the city's oldest community theater companies. They've been at their current location in East Memphis since 1975.

The theatre houses two stages for performances and the grounds have scupltures depicting characters from well known plays (bonus points if you can guess which ones they are). All of their productions are casted with local actors that are picked through open auditions. If you're interested in trying out, auditions for the 2012 - 2013 season will be posted for in Apil.

There are four more shows left in the theatre's 2011 - 2012 season: "Chicago", "Hedda Gabler", "Noises Off!" and "No, No Nanette".
