Meet Dr. Moacir Schnapp. He's a co-founder of the Mays & Schnapp Pain Clinic in Memphis. Here, he answers my questions about his work, his invention (the iPosture) and his favorite things about Memphis:

Name: Dr. Moacir Schnapp

Occupation: Physician

Hometown: Sao Paulo, Brazil

Neighborhood: East Memphis

I love my work because: it's always challenging and exciting, even after 33 years. Patients appreciate any effort you make to provide them with comfort.  Dr. Kit Mays (my partner and mentor) and I have dedicated ourselves to pain management since before pain became its own specialty. I’m very proud of being the only pain clinic between New Orleans and Saint Louis accredited in Adult Pain Management and we are one of the oldest Pain Clinics in the entire country!

The iPosture is: a thin, two inch device worn on the clothes or the skin that detects when a person slouches. It senses the wearer's posture and is programmed for each person's ideal posture by simply pressing one button, and it vibrates to alert the wearer when slouching for more than 60 seconds. The device was designed to help people monitor their own posture and avoid the physical and mental problems that come from slouching.

It’s Friday night. You’ll probably find me: at the movies with my wife Elma.

If I could only eat at one Memphis restaurant for a month, it would be: Amerigos.

When friends come to visit Memphis, I make sure they go to: Shelby Farms.

My mission is: to make as many people as I can to feel better and be happier.

My favorite annual Memphis event is: the cherry trees blossoming at the Botanical Gardens.

I love Memphis because: it’s my home!
