Happy Friday! There are so many things to do in Memphis this weekend that you could easily stay busy from right now until 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Here are five events not to miss:
During Memphis Fashion Weekend, designers from Memphis and around the country will show off their spring collections. The Friday night show is at the Jack Robinson Gallery on South Main and the Saturday night show is at A. Schwab on Beale. General admission tickets are $40 at the door, but you can pick up a VIP pass (which includes admission to two after parties) for $150.
Join derby girls from across the state for the annual Honky Tonk Stop Tennessee State Roller Derby Championships. On Saturday, all-star teams will compete for the title and on Sunday, there will be a day of mini themed scrimmages featuring skaters from all of the teams playing together.
The third annual River City Brewer's Festival returns to Beale Street on Saturday for two sampling sessions. Local, regional and national craft breweries will be pouring samples of more than 100 different beers. Tickets to both the noon and 6 p.m. tastings are $30, or you can go to both for $55. You must be 21 to attend.
Support Grow Memphis and their work to bring local, sustainable and affordable food to Memphis through their community gardens by hearing some hometown music at the Hi-Tone on Saturday. Your $5 cover gets you in for performances by Wuv Birds, Chris Milam, Jeffery James and the Haul and the Near Reaches.
5. Tour of Flanders, The Brass Door, Sunday, 7:30 a.m., no cover
Come watch the annual Tour of Flanders bicycle race with the crew from Victory Bicycle Studio at the Brass Door on Sunday morning. Don't let the early start time deter you – there will be Belgian waffles, beer specials, "sweet European bikes" and door prizes from Victory.
If none of these events are your thing, there are a ton more on the blog's calendar. There's also a bonus 6th Thing to Do on the I Love Memphis Tumblr. No matter what you do this weekend, I hope you have a blast.
