5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 3/16 - 3/18

Happy Friday! Here are five ways to spend St. Patrick's Day weekend in Memphis:

1. Suds & Spuds: The History of the Scots-Irish, Elmwood Cemetery, Saturday, 2p.m., $25

Elmwood Cemetery, Memphis, Tenn.

Celebrate Memphis' Scotish and Irish history with a tour of the Elmwood Cemetery and a couple of pints. The event begins with beers and a baked potato bar and will be followed by a tour of the grounds. Registration is required - sign up here.

2. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day 10 Ways, various places, Saturday, various times

Put on something green and get ready to drink. There are a ton of St. Patrick's Day events from parades to pub crawls happening all over town on Saturday. Here's a  list of 10 Memphis St. Patrick's Day parties.

3. Tyler Perry's Madea Gets a Job, Orpheum Theatre, Saturday at 1 p.m., 5 p.m., 9 p.m and Sunday at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., $37 - $67

Tyler Perry's latest play (staring himself as Madea) tackles finding a job in the current economy. The comedy is only here for the weekend, so if you want to see it, go ahead and get a ticket. You can purchase tickets online or at the Orpheum box office.

4. Comedy and Blues Tour, New Daisy Theatre, Saturday, 8 p.m., $25 - $45

Spend St. Patricks Day at the Comedy and Blues Tour at the New Daisy hosted by SonyaD and featuring Toni Green, Honest John and Mark Muleman Massey. The show is all-ages and the doors open at 7 p.m.

5. The Rite of Spring, Cannon Center, Saturday, 8p.m., $55 - $75

Go behind the scenes of Stravinsky's riot-causing "Rite of Spring" with the Symphony's Saturday performance. The event includes a multimedia examination of the piece followed by a performance of the work in its entirety.
