365 Things to Do in Memphis #30: Buy Produce the Easy Way

Assignment #30 (of 365) is to get your fresh produce fix at Easy Way, one of Memphis' best places to buy produce year-round.

Easy Way, Memphis, Tenn.

The family-run local chain of grocery stores was founded in 1932. While they stock some canned goods and seasonings, Easy Way's focus is fresh produce. They carry fruits and vegetables (some of which are locally grown - just check the signs), fresh cheese, meats and locally-baked breads and cakes.

My favorite thing about the little orange stores is how inexpensive everything is, especially when compared to a lot of area grocery stores. They may not have the most exotic selection (it would be nice if they had blood oranges), but for the quality, the price is awesome. Today, they had bottles of hot sauce, two for a dollar and avocados for 79 cents.

Easy Way also posts deals (and yummy looking pictures of their stock) to Twitter every day, and if you're not sure what to make with your produce, there are recipes on the Easy Way website.

I love Easy Way! For the record, the Main St location had blood oranges today.

I asked about the blood oranges, too!  They have them when they're in season, and apparently the season is short.  Can't wait though... yum!  Gotta love the local, fresh stuff at Easy-Way; the Backermann's Bakery treats are up there on my favorites list as well.
