Memphis Mystery Train Set List: December 15, 2011

Even though the WEVL station managers have put out about five bins of holiday music (including a probably ill-advised Joey Ramone Christmas CD), I stuck with my usual format for this week's Memphis Mystery Train.

Holiday Music Here

Sometimes, I do special theme shows. And other times, I do unintentionally themed shows. According to a text I got during this morning's show, this week's theme was "People Who are in Love With Weird Things" (i.e. cars, recording equipment, dead film stars).

Here's what I played on this week's Memphis Mystery Train, with the local tracks marked with an asterisk and my notes in italics:

Elvis Costello - No Action
The Egyptians - Party Stomp
The Vaselines - Oliver Twisted
Yo La Tengo - Little Honda (ed. - the one about the motorcycle)
Screamin' Jay Hawkins - Orange Colored Sky
Spoon - You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb
Modest Mouse - The Ocean Breathes Salty
Paul Anka - Diana
