For broke foodies and those who like to try a ton of new food in a short amount of time, there are few things better than Memphis' annual Downtown Dining Week.

It's that most magical week of the year when tons of downtown restaurants offer three-course dinners for $20 (minus the tip, tax and drink). So far this year, 15 restaurants have signed up to participate. They'll be offering their specials from Nov. 14th - 20th.

Here's what's on the menu:

B.B. King's Blues Club and Grill

Appetizer: Fried pickles. Entree: choice of chopped barbecue pork platter, southern fried catfish or chicken fried chicken. Dessert: banana bread pudding. Price: $20.11

Capriccio Grill

Appetizer: minestrone soup or Caesar salad. Entree: Pumpkin Agnolotti with buttered onions, pancetta, cream emulsion and grape tomato. Dessert: homemade pistachio ice cream. Price: $20.11

Chez Phillipe

Appetizer: Arugula, poached pear, walnut salad with Roquefort cheese and pear vinaigrette. Entree: Smoked salmon with asparagus, potato gratin, and fennel burre blanc or braised beef short rib with pumpkin sage risotto, and Bordeaux sauce. Dessert: seasonal fruit tart or creme fraiche ice cream. Price: $20.11

Kooky Canuck

Appetizer: choice of one - fried pickles, chicken tenders, cheese logs, fried green tomatoes or corn brat. Entree: choice of two - fried Cornish hen, catfish plate, marinated grilled chicken, fish and chips, Glenna's meatloaf, great maple flank steak, Southwestern salad, four cheese burger or 12oz. prime rib. Price: $20.11

Itta Bena

Appetizer: she-crab soup or traditional salad wedge. Entree: Newman Farms bone-in porkchop or shrimp and grits. Dessert: warm chocolate brownie with ice cream. Price: $20.11

Local Gastropub

Appetizer: she-crab soup or smoked duck and cranberry salad. Entree: Blackened shrimp voodoo pasta or Gaucho steak with vegetables. Dessert: warm brownie a la mode or homemade rum cake.
Price: $20.11

Automatic Slim's

Appetizer: soup of the day or mixed greens salad. Entree: herb roasted chicken with potatoes and haricot verts or marinated New York strip steak with root vegetable hash. Dessert: dessert of the day or Slim's Peanut Butter Passion. Price: $20.11

Flying Saucer

Any two menu entrees and a shared dessert for $20.11.

McEwan's

Appetizer: soup of the day or mixed greens salad. Entree: grilled pork loin with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans or blackened tilapia with tomato pesto and Parpadelle pasta. Dessert: cookies and cream bread pudding or apple golden raisin cobbler. Price: $20.11

Felicia Suzanne's

Appetizer: BLFGT salad or roasted butternut and apple bisque. Entree: roasted pork tenderloin over pork belly hash or pepper crusted wild salmon with sweet corn ettoufee. Dessert: chocolate fried pies or apple crisp. Price: $20.11

Paulette's

Appetizer: Field greens salad or soup of the day. Entree: Chicken Sicilian with angel hair pasta and fresh vegetables or grilled pork tenderloin with whipped potatoes and green beans. Dessert: white chocolate bread pudding or fresh strawberry crepe. Price: $20.11

Majestic Grille

Appetizer: chicken liver mousse or mixed salad. Entree: Grilled top sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes or pan-seared trout with ratatouille. Dessert: selection of one of the Majestic's signature shot glass desserts. Price: $20.11

Tug's

Appetizer: house green salad or soup of the day. Entree: Creole tilapia with rice pilaf and fresh broccoli or pepper steak with mashed potatoes. Dessert: key lime pie or Mississippi Mud Pie. Price: $20.11

Bangkok Alley

Appetizer: crab rangoon or crispy spring rolls. Entree: tilapia and tiger shrimp with ginger chili sauce or beef tenderloin with mushroom garlic oyster sauce. Dessert: mango pie or fried ice cream. Price: $20.11

South of Beale

Appetizer: pulled pork egg rolls with Dr. Pepper curry dip or gumbo with crawfish and Andouille sausage. Entree: grilled salmon with maple-braised Brussels sprouts or mushroom and goat cheese risotto. Dessert: butterscotch mousse or smores cheesecake.

Bardog Tavern

Appetizer: Cornish Hen stuffed with andouille sausage or roasted Poblano chicken chowder soup and mesculin green salad. Entree: grilled Ahi tuna steak drizzled with soy ginger vin served with red rice pilaf and veggie medley or blue cheese stuffed filet mignon with marchande du vin sauce served with horseradish mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Dessert: pumpkin cake or carrot cake.

Bleu

Appetizer: baby arugla salad or zucchini squash soup or a pork potsticker. Entree: chicken Milanese with potato and pancetta hash or grilled pork and grits or striped bass en papillote. Dessert: Out of the Blue Smores or baked apple crostada.

Rizzo's Diner

Appetizer: chicken tacos or cheeseburger soup. Entree: chorizo meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and the vegtable of the day or Cajun chicken pot pie. Dessert: French silk pie or fall apple pie.

Thai Bistro

Four course dinner. Course one: curry potstickers. Course two: choice of one regular sushi roll. Course three: choice of either Tom Yum or Tom Kha soup. Course four: choice of entree from the Thai wok selection.

 

If you're planning on checking out Downtown Dining Week, be sure to tip your severs well - they're working really hard, so please be generous. Also, know that reservations may be helpful at a few of the higher-end restaurants (Paulette's, Chez Philippe, Bleu).

Callin' out for info!! B'day is Friday (11/4), but I'm single and budgeted/broke/underemployed; I want to give myself as "Happy B'day 2 Me" day as possible! Please give me info any and all b'day "freebies", etc., y'all know of in the Memphis TN area or perhaps online anywhere; thx soooo much the help!! :-)

sad to see that there are no vegetarian options at any of the restaurants..

 I see vegetarian entrees offered at SOB and Cappricio Grill. And I'm quite sure you can get veggie meals at Flying Fish.
