You know how speed dating works, right? Guys line up on one side of the room, girls line up on the other, and you get to spend five minutes or so meeting and chatting up each person in the hopes of making a very efficient connection.

The Humane Society's speed dating event is like that, only with humans on one side of the room and adorable, adoptable dogs and cats on the other.

The event, which is on Nov. 9th, is for people who are seriously considering adopting a pet. Each human will get to spend a few minutes each with a variety of dogs or cats. It's free to participate, and if you make a love match, you can apply to adopt your new friend at a 50 percent discount.

And, just like at real speed dating, there's going to be plenty of food and wine.

If you'd like to participate, you have to pre-register by Nov. 7th.
