Downtown Museum Day 2011 Guide

Downtown Museum Day 2011 Guide

Alright, Memphians - it's time to fess up. When's the last time you visited one of the city's museums or attractions?

Chances are, it's been a while. Sure, you may have taken your friends or family to see a few things the last time they came in town, but I know there are a lot of you who haven't seen the inside of a local museum since the last time you went on a school field trip.

If you need an excuse to visit (or revisit) some local attractions, here's a good one: September 10th is Downtown Museum Day, a magical time when admission fees to some of Memphis' most awesome attractions are reduced or waived entirely. Note that some of the discounts only apply to Tennessee residents.

Here's a breakdown of participating museums and what they're offering:

- Belz Museum of Asian and Judaic Art: half-price admission ($3 adults, $2 students), 10 percent off at the gift shop, and two screenings of the Korean film "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring".

- Cotton Museum: half-price admission ($5 adults, $4.50 students, $4 kids ages 6-12). There will be guided tours of the museum, hands-on activities, storytellers and an afternoon Seersucker Social party with live music and cocktails.

Kerry, I think the information for Woodruff-Fontaine was sent to you incorrectly. The deal for Discover Memphis Day is buy one, get the second half off (2 for $15, instead of $20). Thanks, Peggy
