Permanent Love for Memphis
Permanent Love for Memphis
People always seem kind of surprised that I don't have a Memphis tattoo. I've thought about it before, but I'm not exactly sure how I would adequately represent my deep relationship with the city.
Several of you seem to have figured it out, though. When I asked for photos of Memphis tattoos earlier this week, I got a bunch of good ones from Memphians and non-Memphians alike. Here's a sampling of some of your permanent odes to the city:
Of course, Sun Studios employees have good Memphis art. Tour guide Cora P. has Elvis' signature on her shoulder:
Her co-worker Victor B. has this huge, work-appropriate sun logo on his chest:
Stephen H. has two Memphis tattoos - one is the city's coordinates, and the second is the St. Jude logo with his son Josiah's patient number underneath:
Jon B.'s Tennessee tattoo is simple, but I like it:
Tina M.'s tattoo totally is TCB:
Elizabeth C.'s tattoo combines her two favorite places, England and Memphis:
Chris has the Rum Boogie guitarist on his side:
Anna (who now lives in Columbus, Ohio) got her "You've got a prayer in Memphis" tattoo as a reminder that "in Memphis we each have something to hold on to".
Do you have a Memphis tattoo? If you were to get one, what would you get and where?
