Other than the change of venue, things will remain the same – the festival will still happen from Thursday, May 12th through Saturday, May 14th. There will still be teams and booths. There will still be lots of barbecue and the Miss Piggy Idol contest will go on.

Read the official Memphis in May statement, and check back here for updates as I get them.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.

  1. My name is Wilson Horrell and I live in Byhalia, MS. but am a native Memphian. I just wanted to say that among all that is going on in Memphis (Grizzlies, Redbirds, Memphis in May), your work is much appreciated. It is nice to “Hear a Voice” FOR the city. It is a great place to live, but is plagued with negativity. Your posts help to serve as a roadmap to the people visiting Memphis and, for me, remind me of various locations that make Memphis a FUN and UNIQUE City. PLEASE keep up the good work. Even if you do not hear it, people like me are glad that people like you stay in Memphis and shed a POSITIVE light on our City.

As a resident of Cooper-Young, I am all for having BBQ Fest at Tiger Lane. It will be a little congested in our community, but hey, it’s only for three days, and it gives visitors another spot to visit in Memphis. Also, they have a chance to checkout the charm of midtown and cooper-young! I’m excited about the move and look forward to having the neighborhood smelling like good old BBQ!!!

Although I’m sad about the move… I can now walk to BBQ fest! Yes!
