Treasure Maps

Local designer/ blogger/photographer Sophorn McRae made these cute maps to hidden Memphis treasures for Saturday’s New Face for an Old Broad event on Broad Ave.

In other news:

– I added a few more places to the list of restaurants that will be open on Thanksgiving day. If you haven’t made reservations yet, you might want to go ahead and get on that – some of these dinners are going to fill up fast.

– Local rapper Skewby released his new single “Break You Off” today. You can score a free copy through his Facebook page.

– Speaking of new things, the Ghost River brewery added a new beer to its list of seasonal beers. The 1887 IPA is named after the year the Memphis Aquifer (where Memphis – and Ghost River – gets its water) was tapped. You can get a keg at the dock on S. Main or wait for it to hit area bars later this month.

– If you’re looking for something to eat tonight, you’ve got a few special options. It’s vegan night at the Trolley Stop Market, and they’ll have spaghetti squash cakes and shiitake mushrooms and an all-organic salad. It’s also Family Dinner night at Au Fond, which means that they’re cooking a special dinner with a meat and two sides. I’m not sure what they’re having yet, but I’ve yet to have anything less than amazing come out of their kitchen.

I write about what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but there is so much more to this place.
