Edwin McSwine's How Sweet The Sound Mural

Check another item off of the Memphis Scavenger Hunt list, everybody. I found this colorful gospel music-inspired mural while walking around South Main yesterday afternoon.

It was painted by Edwin McSwine, who was commissioned through Verizon's How Sweet the Sound competition. All of the murals in the competition were inspired by community, art, and the power of gospel music. It looks amazing. I love the way the yellows and blues pop against the brown wall, and the way it's shaped.

To see it, head downtown to the South Main Arts District. It's on the western side of the Beignet Cafe, at the corner of Mulberry and G.E. Patterson.

Also, I'm always accepting new scavenger hunt items. If you've got something you'd like me to find, let me know in the comments.

I think you should add the statue of De La Salle at Christian Brothers University to your scavenger hunt list. If you go by near a holiday/homecoming he is sometimes dressed appropriately.
