5 Things to Do in Memphis This Weekend: 10/29 - 10/31

Happy Halloween weekend, everybody! There's a ton going on, so get your costume ready and get your weekend started with these five events:

1. Trolley Tour, South Main Arts District, Friday, 6 p.m., free

Tonight's trolley tour is going to be one of the biggest pre-Halloween parties in the city. Get dressed up, bring your family, and head to South Main for safe trick or treating at local businesses, a moonwalk, bobbing for apples and fortune telling. Mark's Menus is doing a special scavenger hunt (involving free beer). As always, the shops and galleries will be open and the trolley is free.

2. Project:Motion: reNEWal, Friday - Sunday, Evergreen Theater, 8 p.m. and 2 p.m., $15 - 20

Project:Motion is back for their 24th season with "reNEWal", which is a look back at some of the dance company's past performances. Six choreographers will be revising, editing and renewing past works from Project:Motion's past. Tickets are $15 - 20, but you can get a discount by ordering online. If you come to Sunday's performance in costume, you can get buy-one-get-one-free adult tickets.

3. Greenup Memphis, South Front and G.E. Patterson, Saturday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., free

Mayor AC Wharton is hosting a festival on Saturday afternoon in South Main in order to encourage Memphians to be more environmentally conscious. There's going to be music, food, community groups and exhibits on the green behind the train station. It's free and totally family friendly.

4. M3 Week Community Concert, Lincoln Park, Saturday, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m., free

The Memphis Music Foundation and Heal the Hood are hosting a free concert at Lincoln Park in South Memphis on Saturday as part of Memphis Means Music Week. There be performances by Yung Kee, Watoto de Africa and plenty of food, music, and community organizations. The event kicks off Heal the Hood's 106 Days of Decreased Youth Violence.

5. Do something Halloween-y

There are entirely too many great Halloween events this weekend to list here. If you're looking for some good times in costume, check out this list of 13 Memphis-area Halloween events. Some of the events (like Zoo Boo and the Corn Maze) are totally family friendly, while others (like the Friends for Life party) are a little more adult. If you go out in costume, be sure to send me a photo for the costume contest.

If you'd like more options, check the calendar. Whatever you do this weekend, have a great time!
