Hunt For Vintage Treasures at Garbo's Resale
One of the best parts about visiting my grandma when I was a kid was getting to play dress up with the huge closet full of vintage clothes and hats in her attic. Most of the clothes weren't anything special, but the hats were amazing.
Going to Garbo's Resale is sort of like going shopping in my grandma's attic. It's a little musty, decidedly unorganized and filled with clothing and accessories that are either completely amazing or completely ridiculous.
I spent some time poking around the old Victorian house today. There were racks of shiny 1980's prom dresses, a ton of vintage wedding dresses and plenty of newer resale pieces.
And then there was this: a brown, feathered felt hat from the 1940's that looked like something a girlie Peter Pan would wear.
Come fall, this baby and I might become inseparable.
Garbo's is run by an adorably enthusiastic woman named Jo Ann. She's been running the shop in Midtown for more than 15 years, and she's totally willing to pull clothes that she thinks will work for you. Garbo's is open Tuesday - Saturday, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
