Show Off Your Smarts at the Cove’s Trivia Night
The first rule of trivia night at the Cove is simple: don’t yell out the answers. That’s not very sportsmanlike, and the whole bar isn’t afraid to tell you so.
Instead, write your answer down on one of the little slips of paper provided and return it to the guys asking the questions. If you don’t know the answer, write something funny or draw a picture – the occasional bonus points are given if you make the hosts laugh.
Here’s how the Cove’s trivia night works: there are eight rounds with three questions each. In each round, you assign a point value to your answers based on how right you think you are (1, 3, or 5 points in the first half; 2, 4, or 6 points in the second).
The questions cover a broad range of topics. Last night, one round in the first half was “lakes, instruments and mythical creatures”. The second half saw rounds like “bombs, French fries and rock’n'roll.”
You can play alone, or with a team (there’s no team size limit). Laptops and iPhones are strictly forbidden.
While Cove trivia isn’t as ridiculously competitive as some games in town, there are some good prizes. The first place winner walks away with a $35 bar tab. Second place gets a $15 tab. The team with the best name gets a round of shots.
Trivia night is every Tuesday night at 9:30 p.m.
