What do we want? Brains!: The Memphis Zombie Massacre Returns

Memphis Zombie Massacre

Rise up, undead masses of Memphis - it's time for the fourth annual Memphis Zombie Massacre.

Every year, hordes of Memphians caked in fake blood take to the streets of downtown on the last Friday of May, lurching their way through the South Main Arts District.

The zombie walk always happens during Trolley Tour night on South Main. There's a reason - "We just really loved the idea of well-dressed, erudite art lovers sipping wine and perusing galleries, and then peeking out the window to see a zombie invasion coming for them," event organizer Lindsey Turner said.  "It's just so silly and scary at the same time."

If you want to take part in this awesome rite of spring, follow these easy steps:

1. Zombify: Before you head downtown, spend sometime making yourself look as zombie-like as possible. There will be people available to help with make up behind Central Station before the walk starts, but there are a ton of zombies and only a few make up artists. Think ahead and do your own makeup if you can.

2. Show up. The walk will start at Earnestine & Hazel's at 6:30 on Friday, May 28th.

3. Massacre! The route is a little different this year. The horde will crawl down North on S. Main, then east on Beale.

If you would like to be "attacked" by the zombies, put a duct tape X on your shoulder and stand along the massacre route.

If you want to see what it's all about before you head downtown, here's a visual aid. For more information on the Memphis Zombie Massacre, check out this super informative post on the event.

Thanks for sharing this with more people. The Zombie Massacres are a great deal of fun every year. And we're always happy to see more undead...as well as victims willing to share their brains. :)

I foresee a dancing zombie horde halfway up Beale Street. Break out the MJ.
