- It's a busy night in Memphis. The second installment of the Memphis Symphony's conductor-free concert series Opus One is at the Warehouse tonight. The Soul Rebels from New Orleans are playing a free show at the Levitt Shell. Also, the Dixon Gallery and Gardens is having Wine and Bacon night.
- Look out, everybody, there's some weather on the way. Memphis is under a severe thunderstorm watch this afternoon and evening. Be careful if you're headed out this evening.

Does Memphis actually get hit by tornadoes and/or hurricanes or does it just get the side weather?

It gets the raggety-ass tail-end of hurricanes in the guise of severe thunderstorms. It gets actual realio-trulio tornadoes.

But it looks like today it might have dodged the bullet, as weather.com seems to have lifted the severe warning in favor of scattered thunderstorms. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be partly sunny and partly thunderstorms--which sounds kind of neat!

We're pretty safe from hurricanes, save for residual rain. We get a few tornadoes, but most die over the river.
