One Big Recommendation for Lunch at Las Delicias

If you’re going to visit Las Delicias, there’s one thing you need to do as soon as you get there: get the guacamole. Seriously. Even if you think you don’t like guacamole, you should order some.

The guacamole is served with a spoon, which you’ll need. This isn’t a bowl full of  mashed avocados that are easily scooped onto chips. The menu isn’t lying when it says that the guacamole is made fresh to order. It was clear that after I ordered, someone in the kitchen cut an avocado into chunks just for me.

After looking for a lunch menu (Las Delicias doesn’t have any lunch-specific offerings), I ordered the chicken enchiladas verde.

When the server set it down in front of me, I was sort of amazed. The dish was huge – there wasn’t a part of the plate not covered in food or verde sauce. It also looked insanely fresh. Somewhere under that mound of lettuce, tomato, avocado and sour cream, there are three corn tortillas filled with chicken.

While the food was absolutely gorgeous, the interior of the restaurant was a bit odd. The walls are bare, and fancy red upholstered chairs (like you’d find in a really nice home dining room) are pulled up to regular restaurant tables. All of the effort has clearly been put into the food, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

  • You ordered when I always order – except mine came with beans. I’ll have to remember to ask for rice next time. Their rice looks good.
The guacamole is awesome – you can eat it as is or use the spoon to mush it up a little. The chips and guac and a margarita make this place worth a visit.
The furniture is left over from Wangs China Bistro.

  • Las D is indeed delicious and the only problem with your review is that you failed to mention the wonderful, even if unusual, chips. The chips alone are worth a visit.

  • That place is great. I went there yesterday, got the guacamole, a beef taco, and one enchilada verde. Apparently you can order enchiladas a la carte. Great place! So fresh.

  • Don’t forget their original location at 3727 S. Mendenhall! The furniture is left over from Subway.

My favorite dish is the All-in-One.

  • I also heard the guac is awesome! Can’t wait to try it…

Las Tortugas or Deli Mexicana is also awesome!!!

  • Hey there, long time lurker here with my first ever comment! My only daughter is getting married to her lovely mexican boyfriend soon, and I’m tasked with doing the wedding arrangements! I thought enchiladas would be a nice snack, so trying to find some good enchilada recipes. What do you think? Any more ideas?? Anyway, thanks for your hard work as ever… I’ll try to comment a little more on future posts.
