ARTjamN Studio Opens in Cooper Young
I consider myself a decently creative person, but I’ve got no artistic talent at all. I can’t sculpt or paint, and you definitely wouldn’t want me on your team in Pictionary.
There may be hope for me yet, though, in the form of a new painting studio in Cooper Young called ARTjamN.
Shop owner Mary Parham describes her studio as a place for “paintertainment.”
Here’s how ARTjamN works: Burgeoning artists come in to the spacious, airy studio and pick out a canvas. They then decide whether they want to create their own masterpiece or do a guided painting. (The guided paintings are sort of like catalog shopping – you pick the one you want, then you get instruction on how to create it.)
The sessions are priced by the size of the canvas. You pay one cost for the canvas, the use of the space and painting supplies. A 16×20 canvas is $40.
ARTjamN officially opens on Thursday, Jan 7th during Cooper Young Night Out. They’ll have a bunch of 2×3 canvases that visitors can paint for free. They’ll decorate one of the blank walls at the studio.
After Cooper Young Night Out, ARTjamN will be open on Thursdays and Fridays for open painting. They’re also going to be open for private parties, group sessions and special events. During special events or group sessions, painters are welcome to bring their own food and drinks.

What a great idea. I’ll be there on Thursday. Can’t wait to tell my friends.

I have done this and had the best time! We brought our own wine and had a blast! So much fun.
