Memphians seem to have a very unique sense of humor. We like observing and commenting, especially on things that make Memphis, well, Memphis. The city’s got a thriving local comedy scene made up of improvisers and stand up comedians.

I went to see Memphis comedians Mo Alexander, Andy Flemming and Dominic Dierkes do stand up at the in front of a packed house at the Full Moon Club (above Zinnie’s East) last night. And in the spirit of the scavenger hunt, I managed to make off with Dominic’s set list.

Dominic is a native Memphian who moved to L.A. to do comedy full time. I totally hope the people in L.A. that hire comedians know about Dominic, because he’s hilarious. He cracked jokes about Facebook, family, confession and t-shirts that belied his cute, clean-cut appearance.

Local comedy legend Mo Alexander took the stage after Dominic’s set. Mo is hilariously politically incorrect (and definitely R-rated).

Mo tours quite a bit, so be sure to catch him when he performs in Memphis.

There are plenty of laughs to be had in Memphis. On Monday nights, there’s an open mic comedy night at the P & H Cafe, a monthly improv show called FreakEngine on the first Friday of the month at Theatreworks, and monthly shows by the Wiseguys improv troupe at the Full Moon Club.
