The Memphis Queen

This is a picture of the entire fleet of Memphis Riverboats docked at the base of Union Ave.

I didn't realize this, but there are two Memphis Queens. The Memphis Queen II is 80 feet long, made of steel and was built in the 1950s. She was the first all-steel boat to sail on the Mississippi River.

The Memphis Queen III is larger (110 feet long), newer (built in the 1970s) and is decorated in the inexplicably Victorian style of most traditional riverboats.

I'm assuming that there was a Memphis Queen I, but I'm not sure what happened to it.

The Memphis Queens are run by Memphis Riverboats (which also sails the Island Queen, the Memphis Showboat and Demona). Sightseeing tours last 90 minutes and  run every weekend. The boats can also be rented for private parties and events.
