A few things: Starry Nights, Carless Night, The Blind Side,

Welcome back from Thanksgiving break, everybody. Here are a few points of interest for you now that you’ve recovered from your food comas.

- Tonight is the only night to see the Starry Nights holiday light extravaganza without a car. You can walk, run, bike or skate (my preferred method) your way through the display. It’s $20 per person (or $10 for kids under 10) and lasts from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

- There’s a new movie about Memphis. The Blind Side (starring Sandra Bullock) is the story of Michael Oher, a Memphis kid plucked from poverty by a caring family who played football at Briarcrest and went on to be a first-round draft pick in the NFL. The movie wasn’t filmed here, but I’ve heard that there are a lot of Memphis-y details. The Blind Side is showing all over town.

- Memphis got some high praise from some recent visitors. They had a lot of great things to say about their trip to Memphis – the people are super friendly, there’s plenty to do and see, and the streets are clean. Read the whole glowing review of their trip (and some suggestions of things to do in Memphis).
