Gibson’s Donuts is Definitely Tastee
A few weeks ago, I asked people on Facebook where to go for the best donuts in Memphis. There were a few places mentioned, but Gibson’s Donuts in East Memphis was the clear (and unscientific) winner.
I stopped by for breakfast this morning and had a hard time choosing. There were a ton of options – cinnamon rolls, donut holes, cake donuts, yeast donuts, donuts with all kinds of toppings. I was about to go for a pumpkin cake donut, but I couldn’t resist the Tigers-themed donuts.
Gibson’s clearly loves the University of Memphis. There were at least four varieties of blue and white donuts in the bakery case. I went with a classic – blue icing with sprinkles.
During breakfast hours (I was there between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.), the shop was busy, but not overly crowded. There were a lot of families and older people having breakfast in the shop and a lot of business people picking up boxes of donuts to go.
Local radio DJ, writer and actor Jeff was kind enough to let me share his table. He had been at Gibson’s for a few hours working on his laptop in a corner booth. Gibson’s is open 24 hours, so if you’ve got a donut craving or want to get some work done, you know where to go.
Go There:

(Before you go, check them out on Facebook - they post specials and free donut deals).

Tas-T-O’s in Arlington has a distinct flavor…almost as good as the original, which was located on Watkins until a few years ago. I have to vote them as my all-time fave!!

Stopped by while visiting Memphis. Loved all the donuts that I got to eat.
