Found: Peter Pan
Peter Pan’s Pantry is closed now but the sign that marked the convenience store is still there, at least for now.
The store was located in the space next to Joe’s Liquors at Belvedere and Poplar. It was a typical convenience store, the kind that sold beer, milk and bread.
It’s all boarded up now, but there’s a brand new piece of stenciled art on the temporary plywood wall.
According to sources on Facebook, Joe’s is going to be expanding into the Peter Pan’s space. Can anyone confirm this? Also, does anyone know what will happen to the sign? Maybe it’ll wind up in the Memphis Heritage auction next year.

I liked the old, rusted-out Peter Pan sign, before they replaced it with a new one a few years ago. The only photo of it I can find is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/leff/580130/

my parents used to buy 12-packs of falstaff for a quarter at peter pan’s pantry, back some time in the years before i was a twinkle in anyone’s anything.

My friend Dave got kidnapped by some dudes in that parking lot about a year ago.

That’s not just any guitarist. That’s Robert Johnson. I like it. Good stencil.
