My new favorite song is a Memphis rap song about H1N1
All day, I’ve seen people mention a rap song about swine flu on Twitter. The song was originally credited to Al Kapone (of “Hustle and Flow” and “$5 Cover” fame), but he posted to his Twitter this afternoon that the song is really by another Memphis rapper, Sir Vince.
The song isn’t really playing on the radio yet but I’ve heard that Q107.5 will have it soon. In the meantime, take a listen on Sir Vince’s MySpace page. It’s the song called (appropriately) “Swine Flu”.
You guys, I love this song. It gets points for having been written by a Memphis artist and points for topicality. It also gets points for being completely no-nonsense about the spread of H1N1. Don’t believe me? Check out this lyrical sampling:
“This might not be that hard, I’m going to give you a little task, if you’re around somebody sick, you might want to wear a mask”
Or, there’s this:
“I see it on the news, the swine is growing strong. If you’re feeling sick today, you need to stay at home”
Hopefully, people will hear it on the radio and remember to take a few extra seconds to protect themselves from H1N1. In the meantime, I’ll be listening to it on Sir Vince’s MySpace and hoping that he wants to take a picture with my I Love Memphis sign.

I heard it on 107.5 TODAY in fact. I changed the station. I thought it was a PSA.

As someone sitting in bed sick with h1n1 this is by default my new favorite song.

At least a hundred persons in our city have been infected with the H1N1 virus. I was very scared to get infected with this disease during the pandemic**`
