The Big Star Box Set is Almost Here

Even though I knew it was coming, I still got all excited when I saw the picture of the new Big Star box set that Rachel posted on Twitter today.
Big Star is one of my all-time favorite Memphis bands. They started in Memphis in 1971 and broke up in 1974. They’re back together today (their last record, In Space was released in 2005), but if you’ve never listened to them, start with their older recordings.
Or, perhaps, this box set.
It looks like it’s going to be fairly epic – 98 tracks (some of them exclusive), extensive liner notes, photos and essays. If you feel like the Sept. 15th release date is just too far away, you can pre-order the set here, grab some tracks from emusic, or check out Big Star playing “Thirteen” live.
